I was wondering...
Is it possible to have a musical momentum year?
What I mean by that is this...
A year where every album that you bought, and/or in a genere seems to fit perfectly even if some of the albums are not as well as the rest of the albums, but none the less it helps smooths out the year to make it a good to great year in music?
I guess, in other words, every album does what is expected or more. Unlike the past few years where it seems every album refuesed to live up to expectations, I'm having one of those musical momentum years with rap. Not every album is great, but collectively they make for a good year.
It reminds of me of 2001 - 2003 when music just basically went on and on and on with one good album after another. Those years where so good I remember listenning to The Yea Yea Yeas and follow that up with N.E.R.D... well you get the point.
Has anyone had a musical momentum year? Or do you remember when you last had one?

'96 was a pretty good year, and God I know that goes back a while. Static-X came out with Wisconsin Death Trip, I believe Tool dropped Aenima both of which are in my "classic" section.
'01 was also a really solid year for hip hop albums as it was pretty much the last year I bought into the genre heavily.
My momentum seems to go every five years it seems, though '06 was kinda soft.
I suppose in three more years things should smooth out again.
I've recently been listening to a lot of seventies music: Led Zepplin, Jefferson Airplane (60's into 70's), Elton John (no gay jokes, I only like a couple of songs).
I span the generations for anything good.

Dragzilla: Music? It had EVERYTHING to do with music. It was promoting my new CDwhich is going to take the music world by storm. I am assuming your new CD will be called "Turning Blackenese."

In answer to your original question, I agree, here lately this has been a banner year for music and has restored my faith in the Rap Music Genre. Cube's CD may be one of the best 5 Rap CDs of All-Time and Nas' CD is on the level of Public Enemy's earlier stuff. I have heard some stuff off of Busta Rhymes new CD and I like it and I am also looking forward to Andre 3000's new stuff as well as hearing the game's new CD and Ice-T's return to the music world. I have heard a couple of the songs off his new album and it is alright. I am hoping for more from the things I have not heard.
Rock music has gotten better, but a lot of stuff in that genre is starting to sound all the same. "Am I listening to Linkin Park or Red," or "Was that Trapt or Hinder." I do not like the new Metallica CD although I was never a big fam of theirs. To me they are overrated and all their stuff sounds the same. I respect the artists drive to do something, but that does not mean I have to like what they put out. Hell, I respected Vanilla Ice's lame ass, but can't stand to hear him come on the radio. Same goes for the BS rap of today with the likes of Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy and Hurricane Chris. There crap makes Kriss Kross sound hardcore.

I'm missing a Nas album?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I have been outta the rap genre for a while. Nas is the only artist I've ever sworn this for: If he makes a childrens' CD, porn on tape, Nas sings with Dragzilla: The classics-I'd buy any of those. I love Nas' work.
I must go download/steal/buy that album. What's the name?

The Nas CD has no title. It has a picture of him with his back to the camera and the "N" for Nas is scarred into his back like it was whipped there. Hmmm Dragzilla and Nas? ? That might be a RP in the making just for you Mr. Luger. Maybe Shaka Sho'Nuff and Static X get together and do an CD like Body Count. Eno teams up with 3rd Bass to bring Jewish White Boy Rap back to the main stream. Kingpin teams up to make 2/3 of the new Fat Boys. Tomas Luger goes on tour with Motley Crue and he and Tommy Lee have a contest to see who can get the most STDs during the tour. Rob Blondie and Johnny Depp face off in an upcoming movie to see who truly is YFA. Finally, Marcus T teams up with no one because in his own mind he is God and the rest of us are going to Hell. What he doesn't realize is we are already there because we have to listen to him claim to be the Almighty.

96-99 was a good year for music that I liked...both Metal/Rock and Country was putting out a lot of good stuff.
Static X bitchslapped the rock genre, Korn taught us drugs can help you make good music, LIT gave us Pam Anderson in 3D and super sized, Radiohead said you're a creep and a lot more awesome music. Lets not forget, Powerman5K. Seeing Static X and PM5K in concert together was one of the highlights of my late teens.
I also discovered I liked country since it was no longer the sad sappy blah blah blah songs, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Travis Tritt, Alan Jackson, everything was changing and Country was actually starting to sound awesome to me, so my MP3 player is full of songs from 96-99 mostly, and a lil bit of the early 90s....screw you....I liked Kriss Kross!

I liked Kriss Kross also, I am just saying that the "kids" being pushed today do not have the talent of the kids back then like Kriss Kross.
Country was very strong back then and I think overall it raked in the most money out of all the genres.
