Anyone watching the fights tonight? I've never paid much attention to this brand called "Elite XC" but thus far the matches have been pretty good. The competitors seem a bit more raw and it causes easier defeats it seems like (as opposed to 3-5 round decisions).
At any rate . . . I do believe I have fallen in love with Gina Carrano. That is a bad woman right there.
Any thoughts on Kimbo Slice?

Well . . . this might be hard to believe but . . . I couldn't agree more.
I don't understand why they would stop that fight at that point? Cauliflower ear is TREATED by draining it. The guy was in no worst shape AFTER his ear busted open then before. Did they think he was going to bleed to death? Come on. I feel like I just saw Jerry Lawler become the unified NWA Champion over Kerry Von Erich.
Bottom line is . . . Kimbo had all he could take from a second rate MMA competitor. He's just not going to be able to cut it against somebody solid in Jiu Jitsu.

I'm not going to rip into Kimbo just yet. He did what he had to do, and that was surive another third rate fighter. He is working his way up like they all have too, he is just better than who they pit him up against.
When the guy got hit in the ear he lost all his marbles, he could hardly stand and he could have gotten seriously hurt. Personally I would have given him the chance to fight back, but... what do you expect when this is your first prime time tv slot on national tv? You are going to have to check as much of the violence as possible. If that fight was on Show Time or Spike then yea... it would have kept going.
Kimbo did not win that fight, the other guy lost! He went head to head with Kimbo, he got away from the ground and pound, he earn his lost. Now let him soak in his misery... what he needs to do is stop trying to fight the ref at the end and learn how to fight for real.

I wouldn't neccessarily say I hate Kimbo . . . but my opinion of him is that he won't be able to hang with the big boys of the sport. Which goes to show you how BAD the men in that sport are, because I sure as heck wouldn't want to meet up with Slice in a back alley and when you think about it, he's not near the baddest man in MMA . . . so it puts things in perspective.
I disagree with your account though . . . I don't think the guy was anymore marbleless after his ear busted then before. But I do understand that they had a sharp eye out for injuries because of the national audience. Fair enough.
I do believe Kimbo ran a fine line of losing the fight at the end of round two. Thompson was elbowing hm to no end and he could/would not defend. I'm actually surprised they didn't call the fight right there.
All in all . . . I stand by my observation. Kimbo was a monster on the streets . . . but in the MMA ring, he's just another guy.
