I dont doubt it one bit. I agree with you. Still the kid at the mirror thing sorta creeped me out as did the pantry thing. Look liked another Japanese based horror flick that will be made into a movie and star Pacey from Dawson's Creek and Buffy from Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Akira is one of those that you don't really need to mess with. That one is just great the way it is. While it ain't my favorite anime, I still agree that it is one of the greatest.

Akira is probably my favourite Anime film as it would probably be in my Top 10 Films I've Seen. Others I can remember that were great: Perfect Blue, Castle Of Cagliostro and the hilarious Junkboy. Haven't seen any anime films in years though. Wouldn't have a clue if there've been any good recent ones.
As for those ghosts, yeah, all fake but the pantry one would make a great scene in a film. Very creepy. Has anyone here actually seen ghost footage they believe in? I haven't yet found any I would deem conclusive. There are some cool fake ones though.

We talking about movies?
Cuz I recall Fist of the North Star was so freaking badass......the guy just shoves his fingers into someone's chest and it explodes? DUDE!
Then there was Ninja Scroll I think? Where they went all aggro in the trees and ninjas would show up from no where and really make you go WTF sometimes.
I also liked Ghost in the Machine.
But Akira, I've seen it on Weed, acid, and shrooms (not all at once mind you) before and I must say it kicks ass every time, and sends me into a trance usually. Even watching it not on anything is a trip.

All anime my friend. All anime movies. All good ones at that, thought my personal favorite is still Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. Just a phenominal piece of animations with a kickass story.
