For those of you that do not know, I recently took a job as a Supervisor with a Cable/Internet/Phone compay and have been away from the boards for awhile. Well, seems things are getting interesting as we head into 2010.
In just a couple of weeks on the job, the company has asked me to relocate and take over as a Call Center Operations Director starting on January 4th. Now for the fun part. The Call Center is located in Charleston, West Virginia. Can anyone hear the banjos striking up?
I have to admit, the move to Charleston worries me a bit as it is away from my entire family and friends and puts me in a situation where I will basically just throw myself into my work seeing how I know no one out there as well as will be living in a hotel for the first three months until I get a place. Then again, my salary would double and I would work Monday thru Friday from 8am to 6pm. Can't beat those hours or salary and that doesn't even include the monthly bonuses.
So here after Christmas is ut of the way, I will be loading up the truck and heading for West Virginia. Needless to say, my time on th eboards between now and the middle of January will be limited with the packing, planning, moving and getting the Call Center going. Just know there is no way I am leaving the TWD. I enjoy this stuff too much and you guys are the best. Just thought I would give you all a bit of an update since I have been quiet the past few weeks. Take care and talk to you all later this week.

well its not too bad, we're gonna be taking a break during that time anyway so you're not gonna miss much.
Kudos to the "promotion" I guess you could call it. West Virgina?? You'll be close to Martin now.
Good luck with the move and we're happy you're back.

Good luck, good sir!
I'd kill for a job, anywhere at this point, and I live in fucking California for Christ's sake. Of course the shit kicker little town I live in is probably fairly similar to West Virginia. Yes, I think the banjo is our local instrument of choice.
Don't get eaten by inbreds and rednecks!

I believe the Casinos (I could be wrong) are along the state line where the rivers are. Also, Charleston is a college town with the University of Charleston located there. Morgantown is home to either West Va or Marshall and the other one is located somewhere else. I can't remember, but I do know that Morgantown is beautiful and it should be an interesting move and change of pace for me. Sometimes you just gottastart all over.
Luger, where in California do you live? I lived in San Diego, Lodi, Elk Grove, Sacramento and a couple of other places before.

Kev, you are about to embark on an interesting journey, but not a bad one.
I was born in West Virginia, Morgantown to be exact (West Virginia University is located there) and I also grew up in Ohio, but I could throw a rock to West Virginia and visited there several times a day for one thing of another. There are some areas in WV that have the very stereotypical redneck incest hillbillies, but majority of the state is not like that.
There is some beautiful mountain areas and the casinos (Wheeling Downs and Mountaineer) are always fun to go to. If you travel around the state and attend the casinos at all there may be a fair chance that you could run past me in one as I am attempting to win millions(and losing millions in the process).

Good luck Kev. I know that times have been a bitch for you lately so this is probably the best thing for you.

I live in Orland, which is about thirty minutes away from Chico, or a little over and hour north of Sac.
My grandparents lived in Pine Grove, which is just outside of Lodi if I'm not mistaken.
California sucks either way, unless you don't live here. Then it's all sunshine and bikinis or some such nonsense.

There is a "casino" near Charleston. It used to be used primarily as a dog track with some slot machines. Now it's a casino with a dog track.

Thanks for the info Patrick and Colt. This should be very interesting.
Yeah Chase, things have been pretty sucky as of late so maybe this will work out for th ebest. if not, I am seriously thinking about taking a job working as a civilian over in the Middle east. the money is outstanding and it is tax free. So we will see what happens next.
Yes, Luger everyone thinks Cali is nothing but a damn Beach Boys video and that is far from the truth. Still, there are some good things out there. I know exactly where you live, been through there several times. Sometimes I miss how Cali is lined up. How you get a town and then the next town always seems to be two hours away. Not like here in Texas where the Dallas/ft Worth area has grown so big it almost reaches Oklahoma now.
