(The scene opens like any usual promo. A wrestler standing in a room with a TWD backdrop behind him, talking about recent events that have transpired in their lives as of late. On this particular day, the wrestler in question is none other than TWD founder, “The Enforcer” Brent Kersh. Before Kersh begins to speak, the look on his face shows that he is troubled with a heavy heart. After a bit of hesitation, the words finally flow from his lips but they ring of a different tone. Not the familiar tone that comes from a man who has seen it all and risen above all adversity, but this a tone that seems so out of place does have a familiar ring. The ring of disappointment.)
Brent Kersh: The last time you saw me . . . I was looking down at the unconscious body of Shabree Reddington. Shocked at the reality that had just occurred. Immediately wondering if there was a way to put right what went wrong. Wondering how long it would be before she was on her feet taunting me. Wondering if she would be on her feet . . . ever again.
And that sound. That confusing sound of the cheering crowd. After what I did? Those fans. Those people. They must not have seen what I saw. They must not have felt what I felt.
The yelping grunt that escaped her lips as I drove my foot into her stomach. The whine of anticipated pain as I hoisted her up into my arms. And in one swift motion it was as if I could feel her doubts turn to certainty when the weight of her body brought her shoulder crushing down into my knee. A c.....nty that would last for o...y f......ns of a second ................co......n of her sku...a...d the canvas ab....ed her a........ss. Her fears . . . her pain . . . her st........e to co.... with re.........ty . . . c........ete. It was over for ......bree. But for me . . . for me . . . ..................................................................
(As the sound of Kersh's words begin to cut in and out, the sound of static begins to be heard. As it gets louder and louder, the face of TWD's founder begins to fade away in favor of the black and white “snow” that covers the television screen. For a few moments, this becomes the scene that millions around the world become accustomed to. Thinking that it is just slight technical problem. The hope of seeing their beloved superstar once again grace the screen keeps them from changing the channel. Finally, the static begins to fade, but instead of seeing the face of Brent Kersh and hear about his tragic story, a new image graces the monitors of the TWD faithful. A new image that has recently become just as familiar.)
(As the sounds of blood curdling screams and maniacal laughter is heard, the image of the symbol of The Fallen begins to fade and everyone watching at home is treated to yet another familiar sight. A sight that ended 2009 with much doubt and uncertainty. A sight that forever changed the way an icon of this sport will be seen.)
Shabree Reddington: How does it feel, Brent? How does it feel to be so helplessly devoted to suffering for MY amusement? I listen to you.. you say that you will fight until you can fight no more. This was so easy... you didn't even lift a finger. You're a joke Brent Kersh. A joke and I'm done looking at your pathetic face.
(Shabree pulls back for another swing, but is suddenly met with a kick to the midsection from Kersh.)
Bib Brady: AW MY GAWD!
Gary Yahtz: What the . . .
Bib Brady: KERSH WITH A BOOT TO SHABREE AND . . . NO!
Gary Yahtz: SOUTHERN DISCOMFORT!
Bib Brady: BRENT KERSH JUST NAILED SHABREE REDDINGTON WITH THE SOUTHERN DISCOMFORT!
Gary Yahtz: He snapped Brady. He snapped.
(The follow through of his patented shoulder breaker into a tombstone piledriver has brought Kersh on all fours, staring down at the unconcious face of Shabree Reddington. The crowd has erupted into a roar of cheers, as Kersh looks on in shock.)
Bib Brady: I do not believe this.
Gary Yahtz: I can't believe he would actually put his hands on a woman.
Bib Brady: Are you kidding me? Shabree has been asking for this for weeks, but . . . wow, I . . . I can't believe it either.
Gary Yahtz: Neither can Kersh. Look at him. He's shocked.
(Kersh begins to slowly crawl backwards towards the ropes.)
Bib Brady: Wait a second . . . here comes Chris Freytag. Freytag is on his way out to help his partner.
Gary Yahtz: And of course . . . Kersh is high tailing it. He should. He should Brady. That man is a disgrace.
Bib Brady: Give me a break Yahtz. She had a baseball bat for Christs sake.
(Kersh makes his way to the outside as Chris Freytag slides into the ring and kneels over top of Shabree.)
Bib Brady: Brent is lost. He cannot believe what he has done. And look at him . . . he doesn't understand. All the cheering. Look at him looking around.
Gary Yahtz: These people are blood thirsty just like Brent Kersh.
Bib Brady: This isn't good Gary. Freytag is panicked. He's calling for help from the back. He's calling for some medical attention.
("The Enforcer" continues to back his way around the ring and up the entrance ramp, as he is passed by medical personnel pushing a stretcher. A blank expression covers Brent's face as he looks on at the carnage.)
( The fans are forced to witness this act of atrocity. While Shabree is laying motionless in the ring, the “Assassin” Chris Freytag is in a panic like state for his fallen comrade. However the real focus here is not the assault of the New Wave Rage, but the expression that is on Brent Kersh's face.. A blank, emotion less expression. No sign of remorse, nor a sign of joy. All that appears is.......................nothing.
As the scene of Shabree Redington getting driven to the mat by Brent Kersh ends, it begins to replay on a continuous loop. The fans are force to relive this moment again, and again, and again. Slowly the camera begins to pan out and the audience notices that this replay from the last Showdown of 2009 that they were watching was playing on a monitor in an unknown location. However as the camera continues to back up, we see several monitors side by side, stacked to the ceiling, playing the same scene over and over. As camera continues its journey backwards, a new object comes into view. This new object appears to be a large chair, but not just any ordinary chair, for you see this chair resembles more of a throne. A throne carved from bones.. As the camera focuses on the throne, it begins to turn around and face the camera. As the throne slowly turns, 2 figures are seen. One is seen sitting in the chair with his hands clasped together and the other is standing silently beside him, staring off into the distance as if under a trance. The Wrestling Domain faithful, who are now watching something that they never anticipated, recognize these 2 individuals. It is none other than the “Dark Messiah” Damian Morningstar and his follower, Prophet Jahmon. Morningstar looks pleased with what he has just seen on the monitors that are now situated behind him. He pulls out a remote from a previously unseen pocket that is fastened to the side of his demonic chair. He lifts the remote up and behind himself and presses the pause button. At once, all the monitors stop. The scene that Morningstar paused at is the blank stare on Brent Kersh's face.)
Damian Morningstar: Once again, the champions of righteousness have proven just how flawed they truly are. Do you doubt this? If so then all you need to do is watch this scene once again because that will undeniably put your doubts to rest
For several weeks now I have been telling you about man's nature. Ever single person on this God forsaken planet has the desire to cause mayhem and destruction embedded into their very soul. Every last one of you feels the need to do something of a sinful nature, regardless of the severity of the outcome. Whether it is to tell a small fib or to murder someone in cold blood, the fact remains that sinful acts are not caused out of some psychotic trauma or fear, but because you want to do it. And what better example of this than the great Brent Kersh.
For years Kersh has played the role of “good guy” and “role model” to absolute perfection. Notice that the key word, my children, is “played” and that is exactly what he did to all of you. He played you for the fools that you continue to be on a daily basis. He sucked you in with his talk about competition and fighting the good fight that you were all willing to ignore the evil that was buried deep in his soul. Of course I am sure he believed his lies just like all of you did, but that is the nature of man. Nobody wants to admit their flaws. Each and everyone of you thinks that if you hide those skeletons in that deep, dark closet and then push forward to life a decent life, then they will fade away with time.
Oh how wrong you continue to be.
As we just witnessed, Brent Kersh is just as much of a monster as you or I. What kind of self respecting man would strike a woman and leave her crippled inside the ring? The answer to that question is.......................
(A sly grin crawls across Damian Morningstar's face)
A man who wanted to cripple her.
That's right my children. Brent Kersh wanted to hurt Ms. Reddington. He wanted to inflict as much damage as he possibly could just to stop the small amount of teasing she gave him each week. You see, while Shabree Reddington enjoyed playing games during her stay in TWD, Brent Kersh does not. While Shabree Reddington has a unique sense of humor, Brent Kersh has none. All Shabree was trying to do was earn the respect of her fellow competitors. She wanted to be looked at as an equal and not be treated any differently due to her inferior gender. Shabree only wished to make a statement and who better than The Wrestling domain founder? However Shabree was not aware of what laid dormant inside the Enforcer. Like the proverbial bear, she continued to poke at him with her stick, or in this case, a bat.
(Morningstar snickers at his tasteless joke before continuing on.)
As I was saying, Shabree continued to taunt Kersh, his rage continued to build. For weeks he took it and continued to take it until he could take it no more. Finally, he struck and now Shabree is laid up in a hospital bed in critical condition. She may never return to this sport of wrestling and it is all because Brent Kersh wanted to teach her a lesson.
What is that lesson, you ask?
Well it is,”A white knight always has a kink or 2 in his armor”
Brent Kersh made the conscious decision to cross a line he vowed never to cross. He spent a life time building a reputation of decency and in one brief moment, he threw it all away. Brent Kersh finally shed his skin to show his true colors. Brent Kersh proved that he is cast in the same mold as such role models like Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, and the worst of all...........
(He leans in closer and looks directly into the lense.)
Damian Morningstar.
The fact is my children, Brent Kersh is a monster and he always has been and he always will be. There is no longer any reason for him to hide it anymore. If Kersh was the man he claimed to be, the thought of driving Shabree's head into the canvas would have never crossed his mind. Truth be told, it would not surprise me in the very least if Mr. Kersh had a history of abuse. After all, isn't that what those drunk, belligerent Texans are known for? I am sure the he sits in his recliner at home each night, wearing his tight Wrangler jeans and wife beater, hand down his pants, sipping on a Coors beer and as his nightly ritual, strikes his wife with his right hand until he falls asleep. He probably is even more volatile when his precious Aggies lose a game.
Does that sound like an accurate description of your hero?
I thought so, but allow me to make one thing perfectly clear about my recent comments at the man who has made all your dreams come true. I am in no way condemning him for his actions. I commend them. I stand and applaud in approval.
(Morningstar stands up from his seat and gives a short clap before sitting back down. Jahmon, who still stands beside the throne, also claps but still shows no emotion or appears to have any idea of what is going on.)
My dear Brent Kersh, do you want to know what I think of your recent transgressions? I think that it is about damn time. Why the hell has it taken you so long to do this? You obviously wanted to do it, so why hesitate? Kersh, let me just put your mind to rest because I know you are struggling with this. When you hit Shabree with your devastating move, there is only one thing that was on everyones mind.
The bitch got exactly what she deserved.
What kind of ignorant whore thinks that she can step into the ring with monsters like Brent Kersh and Damian Morningstar and expect to hold her own? Shabree chose to leave the comfort of her kitchen and made the conscious decision to stand directly into the path of a hurricane fueled by rage. She begged and pleaded for a beating so she can't complain.
She receive the one thing for Christmas that she has asked for so long. A beating at the hands of Brent Kersh. So be glad my friend. You made her dreams come true this holiday season. There is no need to pout and fill your soul with regret, but you are going to do it anyway, aren't you?
You sit by and question your actions. You stand at a cross roads and know not which way to go. You wonder why the fans cheer for such notorious actions and you can't help but wonder if you are who you pretended to be. Maybe you even hope to find some sort of redemption by taking a fool for a protege. After all, every knight needs a squire to mold in their image.
You may think that this so called “Wizard” can help you find a new path of righteousness, but he can only lead you down a darker path. Remember, this imbecile is the type of person who makes light at his friends current condition. He jokes with death as if it were a play thing and at the same time he wishes to be taken seriously inside the squared circle.
Kersh, you need not take such drastic measures to follow the path of redemption when you just opened the door to your own salvation. However, if you need a guide then I will be more than happy to show you the way. As you can tell, it has done wonders for my prophet.
(Morningstar looks up at Prophet Jahmon who still stands silent and motionless.)
Go ahead Jahmon, tell your old friend just how much I have helped you find your way.
Prophet Jahmon:...................................................................
(A smile forms on Morningstar's face.)
You see that?. You see how much peace he is in now that he has found the way? That could be you, my dear Brent Kersh. You have already proven that we are the same, so why not join me and my cause of righteousness?
But wait, you still cater to those fools who still see you as a hero. You would prefer to fight against your own sinful nature than give in to it. Because of this we must now face each other on Showdown. I should have expected as much. After all, even Jahmon resisted at first, but in the end he learned that his attempts at resistance were futile. He learned the hard way that there is only one true path, but I am offering you this chance with a open hand. Brent, there is no need for you to offer a sacrifice because you have already sacrificed yourself. Accept your fate because it is only inevitable. You, just like the rest of The Wrestling Domain will bend to my will. You will eventually have to beg for my forgiveness while you crawl on your hands and knees, so why fight it. It is your destiny.
You may have experienced pain. You may have been through hell and back during the many ring wars, but you would be a fool to think that such things could prepare you for me and my ministry. You see, I have already beaten you Brent Kersh, and I never needed to lift a finger. I am far more than just a “wrestler.”
I am the devil incarnate.
I am hell unleashed.
I am the dragon foretold of in the Book of Revelations
I am the one your children turn their night lights on to scare away.
I am strictly evil but most importantly of all.......
I am the only person who is truly honest
Have you comprehended it yet? Do you know understand what you will step into the ring with on the 10th? Kersh, I am not some trashy lot lizard that you have spent most of your adult life with. I do not beg for you to choke me or beat me just to get aroused. Like you, I am a monster that has seen the deepest and darkest depths of his very soul. Unlike you, I have embraced that darkness.
If you hesitate with me, I will destroy you. Mind, body and soul.
Now I will allow you time to take in what I have said this evening and I pray that you make the right choice. Good night my dear little Enforcer.
(The sound of laughter is heard as the static once again covers the millions of television screens across the world. Slowly, the scene of Brent Kersh's most recent promo is seen. As the screen finally clears up, Brent Kersh makes these final word to his opponents for Showdown.)
Brent Kersh: Let me make it simple. I don't care what you wear. I don't care what you "preach" and I don't care how many people lower their head to your presence and are guided by your every word. The only thing I care about is what Damian Morningstar is going to be like once that bell rings. And trust me Damian, that knowledge is something that I've already started researching.
Because that's what I do, Damian. That's what I am. "The Enforcer". The same guy day in, day out. Week in, week out. Month in, month out. Year in . . . year out. I'll be ready. Ready . . . with no hesitation . . . to give you . . . everything I've got. It's easy to see Morningstar. I hope that hood doesn't distort your vision.
Brent Kersh: The last time you saw me . . . I was looking down at the unconscious body of Shabree Reddington. Shocked at the reality that had just occurred.
