New Year
As the ball dropped on the New Year, it also meant the beginning of a new era in the TWD. What was a federation dominated by former JENT members at the top, is now a federation being run by a money hungry Aussie. In 2009 the TWD started with Patrick Martin running the things with a soft whip, now the Moderators are in control, with more than a variety of hard sticks. Feuds have come and gone, enemies have made up and fallen from grace again, the mystery man has finally been revealed, and a new influx of faces has entered the mix. In a time of such change in the TWD, it is almost imaginable that we are once again staring face to face with something so familiar.
It is humorous at times how much change can occur in such a short period of time. Just take a look at what I have done in the past year. I entered the TWD as the hot headed rookie bitch of Brian Clark. Known as a kid with so much potential, but would never be able to fight out of the shadow of Brian Clark. Fast forward a few months and I am thrown into a tag title match with another “young star” and I am able to single handedly win us the tag team titles, only to watch him lose them a couple weeks later. Fast forward a few more months, I have no ditched the dead weight in a tag team partner and a supposed mentor and instead found me someone who will take care of her investment. You can say I started the year having a Clark attempt to screw me, and ended the year screwing a Clark.
But through all the difference that have occurred over the past year, there is still those old familiarities that keep you in check. Jamie Krenshaw is still his loud mouth self, only now with even more reason to back it up. Lugar disappears for a majority of the year and yet still manages to return to his annoying ways. Pandora is still whining, Dragzilla is still greedy, Kersh is still boring, and Filipe is still falling to be impressive. But more than anything the one thing that has not changed with the dropping of the bell is the hatred between Saber and I, a hatred that gets to be relieved again in Round Two.
Saber, ol girl, we knew this day would eventually come again. The first time around was so unsettling for the both of us and it truly accomplished nothing. Sure you have a nice like upside down M on your record, but would it still be that way without the bell? If so, what did that win do for you that the loss didn’t for me? It gave both of us the opportunity to compete in the five way Devil’s Dance world title match, in which neither of us were victorious. Not to mention how many matches have you won since that match, the same as me, NONE. Nothing has changed after that match, however, this time around that doesn’t seem to be the case.
This time around the winner actually gets something. Not a title, not a guaranteed title shot, but simply another match for a shot at a title, a shot that could or could not propel us into the spotlight of the whole federation. Either one of us could win the match and simply lose the following match and not even get the World Title shot, however, even I would give you a chance against that opponent. And even if we win that match we could go up against Jamie Krenshaw and be completely embarrassed and proving nothing again. But the point is this match at least has some sort of implication to it.
So I am sure that we are both in store for some of the same old things. You will claim that you have beaten me once and that I have nothing to prove that you can’t do it again, while I sit here and tell you that you are nothing more than a pimple on my ass that is ready to be popped. You will say something on day, and then turn around and say the same thing the next day only in a different way, more than likely out of your ass. At the end of the day the same thing will remain, no matter what either of us says, I am better than you.
Britney Clark walks into the room and takes a seat next to Colt in front of the camera.
Britney: Talking to Saber?
Colt: Naturally…
Britney: He saying anything back?
Colt: Just the same old mumbo jumbo that you are used to hearing from him.
Britney: You know how to stop him from talking?
Colt: Beat him…
Britney: Exactly, then we can finally put him in our rearview mirror.
Colt: Have been trying to do that for a while now, but that cow bell set me back a few hundred steps.
Britney: And a clear victory would move you ahead a few hundred more steps, of course at the end of the day a win is a win no matter how you come across it. Just make sure your hatred doesn’t leave you blinded.
Colt: I still don’t understand how you don’t have the same hatred for him.
Britney: I got a chance to work with him, before I realized the true diamond in the rough. Other than being an ass kisser, I didn’t mind him that much. But at the end of the day if need be, I would kick him in the nuts for you and not think twice about it.
Colt: Well…
Britney: Don’t ever question that fact. Colt I may enjoy our little entertaining times we have together, but more importantly at the end of the day you are my prized investment. Financially I don’t need the money, the only debt I had I sold to Brian’s attorney and let him deal with the wrestling schools financial problems. No Colt this is about the bigger picture, this is about the plans I have for the future of you in the TWD and the future of us in the TWD.
Colt: This all starts with me beating Saber, then Filipe, and then Jamie to claim the World Title.
Britney: And that will be perfectly fine with me, but win or lose that will just be a small portion of the big picture. We have talked about this many times and you know that what you do now will only play a small part of the future. Don’t get me wrong I would love nothing more than to see you will the World Title around your waist, but as long as you don’t become an embarrassment than everything will be fine.
Colt: I will never come close to becoming that, and your plan in something that I can actually buy into. However, that doesn’t mean I won’t set my own personal near future goals. The first of those goals is finally getting this pussy monkey off my back.
Britney: That sounds like a plan that I can buy into. A year from now when we take a moment to look back I think we will be amazed at how the mighty have fallen, and how we have risen.
Colt: Agreed.
Britney: Finish talking to Saber, I have some business to take care of and I am not about to waste any more of my time trying to get through to a wall.
Britney gives Colt a kiss and then heads off camera into some other room.
I actually took a minute the other day to listen to your little promo, and for the first time I will have to admit that you actually made some excellent points, most notably the hatred that we have for each other. For the past year it has driven us to most of our success, and even to a good majority of our failures. But it is not a junior high type of hatred, but yet a true down to the bone hatred for each other. A hatred that will, without a doubt, last for our entire careers, but one that each of us can keep buried until confront again. As long as our careers last I am sure our paths will cross from time to time, most with me at the top of the mountain and you attempting to get there.
The hatred that we have is what makes for lifetime feuds. It is what historians of the business can look back and say “DAMN, those two f’n hated each other”. With matches that can set new standards and a rivalry that of Yankees and Red Sox. With our hatred we can make history for years and years to come, but what part of that history each of us plays is yet to be determined.
Either way after next week’s match our hatred will once again go on the back burner. You already have your hands full with Scott Pandora, and as much as I would love to continue to beat on you I am ready to move on to more challenging peasants. Next week’s match will determine where each of us goes in the near future, but will ultimately not stop either of us from doing what we have to do. Britney and I have a plan that will develop, but only has time progresses and you will continue your fight for equality with Eno and Blacksmith.
After the match things will again continue to change and a year from now we will look back and may not even be able to remember this match, but then again maybe we won’t be able to forget it after all.
A new year and a new chance, against a same old hatred foe…
I am still Holier Than Thou, but more importantly I Am Better Than You
