Who the Hell Knows
A week after once again losing to a man he despises more than anything, Colt Crawford sits at his dining room table, looking as though he has lost his first pet. Meanwhile Britney Clark is walking around the kitchen area talking away on her Bluetooth headset about random things, mostly business. With every word Colt is continuing to get more and more irritated. Finally he had enough.
Colt: Could you please go somewhere else and talk, instead of right in front of me.
Britney: Let me call you back.
She turns the phone off and stares over at Colt.
Britney: Are you still feeling sorry for yourself? It has been a week since the match and you have been walking around this place like your world has ended. Face it like week you and Saber when toe to toe and put on a hell of a match, and at least for that night he came out on top as the better wrestler. We both know that you are the better man and wrestler, but for now let Saber walk around thinking otherwise. Remember what I said about this match, win or lose it was just a small step in the big plan.
Colt: That is all you keep talking about is this big plan! Yet you haven’t even informed me about the finer details of this plan.
Britney: Our business venture is about trust, and I have told you everything you need to know in order to proceed for now. You will learn the rest as time goes on, if you know too much now it could really hinder you in the coming weeks.
Colt: Because I am already on such a roll that I have to worry about something hindering me.
Britney: Yea lately you haven’t been to hot, but none the less everything is still working out okay. However, at the end of the day if we want this to all come together you are going to have to start winning some more matches, and what better time than week.
Colt: Yes against the World Champion Jamie Krenshaw. The man I had all intention on fighting, two cards from this one. Instead I am stuck as a consolation match, a non-title consolation match, against the TWD undefeated World Champion, the perfect cure to the end of a fantastic losing streak.
Britney: Is that doubt that I hear deep down in your voice?
Colt: I do not doubt my ability, but what I am starting to doubt is something much deeper. That is the best way to explain it. Look at Saber, he shouldn’t be able to stand in the same ring with me, but yet he has beaten me twice in a row. Take Filipe, the dullest professional wrestler I have ever seen, and he beat me.
Britney: It is called a streak, a shitty streak, but a streak none the less. Just like when you rolled off wins against Tripp, Blacksmith, Savage, Jahmon…you were on a hot streak. And just like the hot streak ended so too will the cold one, but it won’t by you sitting around depressed about it. What you need to do is get your ass in the gym and find a new way. Do something different, hell wear different underwear if you want to. Just change up the routine a little bit and see what happens.
Colt: I guess it wouldn’t hurt me to give it a go.
Britney taps him on the shoulder and starts to leave the room, but he stops her before she can make it too far.
Colt: I never got to ask you what the deal was with Lugar at Showdown.
Britney: It was all business Colt, him and I go way back to Panther and Andrei’s great rivalry. Neither of us really cared for each other. He was a prick and of course I was a bitch. But now it is a new day and a new federation, but the same Lugar. I wanted to make sure that he knew who you were and not to stand in our way. However, something tells me that will not be the last we see of Lugar in the near future.
Colt: What makes you think that?
Britney: Just call it my bitch hunch. He will be lurking and watching for my next move. He doesn’t trust me and he will be watching his back, not to mention his partner York’s back as well.
Colt: I don’t know about you, but I am not worried about either of those two punks. They have been gone for months and come back here trying to be what they were, but let’s face it while they were gone things changed. The Moderators brought in real talent, including myself, and have no left Mr. Lugar and Mr. York looking like old chumps.
Britney: Be as it may, trust me when I say we cannot take those two lightly. But that is not for you to worry about, let me handle the dynamically gay duo and you just worry about solving the Krenshaw puzzle.
Britney taps him on the head and the heads out of the room leaving Colt alone to think.
Jamie, I had been looking forward to this match. Unfortunately I was hoping it was going to happen at Supercard and not next week on Showdown. I was also hoping that it would be for the World Title, and not another non-title match. However, the cards are now laid on the table and we have to play with what we are dealt. The only question I have is what is the point?
What is there for either of us to gain from this match? Sure a win is a win and that is always a plus, and maybe it would benefit me to have one big win over the current champion and maybe it would be nice to end the current losing streak I am on, but after that what to I gain? A World Title shot…that goes to Saber or Filipe. How about a shot at the second tier title, what a second there is not one, okay I got it maybe I could be granted a tag title shot, but wait I don’t have a partner. So what is it that I really gain from winning?
How about you? You beat me, it is expected. If it is a close match that you barely win your critics will start questioning you. But what if you lose to me? If I pulled off the upset then what would happen. The ones that want you to fail would be thrilled and the money that you have worked so hard to earn by dwindles, even if it is just a little. The biggest problem I have is those same people that want you to fail want me to fail, and I could care less to see them glorified.
Thus leaving me in this predicament, do I give those jack offs what they want or do I say screw you and let you reign victorious? What if I didn’t even compete? I don’t lose and you don’t lose, but the critics are still pissed off.
Other then my natural competitive attitude, I could care less about beating you next week Jamie. Say what you will about me, but I don’t have much to say about you. You have achieved a lot in a short time, and may be the most dominate man in the federation. You hate the people, and you want the money that comes with the glory, two things I can respect. You are at the pinnacle of your career, some where all of us want to be, hell maybe there is even a slight hint of jealousy in me, more in others, but maybe slightly in me.
Krenshaw, next week we will stand face to face ready to combat with nothing on the line. What will happen in this match is yet to be determined and the fallout after which is still up in the air. Maybe there will be nothing and it will go down as a random Showdown match, or maybe there can be greater things to come out of it. Only time will tell.
