Just a few things that have been on my mind as of late, from talking with people and all.
My own personal opinion... and this is just me.. TWD has fallen off since I started dating my girl. That's my bad, partly. Do full match results really make that much of a difference? I think the summaries are just fine and I try to make them as good as I can. Only difference is I don't go in depth with what every arm, leg and muscle is going through for a match. I think they get the job done and I don't have to slave for hours writing a match.
Seg output. Can't stress this one enough. Segments are IMPORTANT. Bold. Underline. Italicize. Quotation Marks. Exclamation point.
Why are segments important? Easy folks. This is how things get started or continue to build heat. Building heat is important for yourself and for your opponents, because when a match has good heat, then the quality of the roleplaying is far better. There is more interest in the outcome. In addition, the hot characters are the ones that I am all too happy to push.
Some of you say, but Chesbro, I don't know what to write about in my segs. Rest easy, help has been dispatched.
Segments should work in connection with your characters storyline arcs. They show flow. From roleplay to show segment to match results, back to the roleplay and to the next segment.. it should all flow seamlessly from one to the next. You are telling a story about your character. About his goals, motivations, his direction.
You know what doesn't get used enough here? People talking simply about their match that night. Kinda like that last minute, last word speech that lasts about 3 minutes and they leave.
In ring promos are VERY key. You can do a MILLION things with them, from leaving open challenges to people, direct challenges to people, asking for team mates, creating stables, calling out people on their BS, demanding title shots, and all that rigamarole.
Segments can also be used for basic attacks on people. Why not open up a wound on someone before your match with them that night, just to piss them off? How about you showing up to the arena to your adoring fans? Did you just buy a hot new ride and want to roll up to the place in it? Did you have something that you wanted to tell the Mods about your position in the federation? SEGMENTS, FOLKS! SEGMENTS! STRATS! RUN INS! ALL OF THAT STUFF! It's the mortar between the bricks of show results.
Storylines and feuds. Okay.. this is something that is going to change. I have been pretty much at the helm of most of anything that goes on in TWD since I took over. That is going to change, post Supercard 3. I'm not going to give everyone a direction anymore. I'm open for ideas and suggestions, but I'm finding that something is missing from the federation and it's spontaneity.
The JENT guys preached about this for a long ass time and I didn't like it, but I'm about ready to give it a try, to really spice things up. You want to run a storyline or feud with someone? Then MAKE IT HAPPEN on your own. The booking is going to change post SC3 and this place will have less structured storylines going on. Less structure, more circus. I'm willing to adapt and open things up for people. It's up to you all to self-motivate and make your character what you want them to be.
You want your shot at Krenshaw's belt? How about you say something and not just wait for me to hand out the shots. Is there ANYTHING wrong with Justin York calling out Krenshaw and saying, HEY! I want you and your title? Absolutely not. So if you want it.. then DO IT!
This is the bigger news that is coming down tonight. The title scene is about to change. I will be changing the current format for championships in TWD, so this will open up the booking and give people focal points for their characters to strive towards.
As much as I like having 1 World Title and the Tag Belts.. and having people earn their shots at them through hard work and longevity within the federation, I think that it's just not working the way I want it to. I continue to lose mid card talent as they are about to push up into the Main Event scene, so again.. I'm going to change things and open it up.
All in all, TWD is about to get a little bit of a revamp to it's structure and system. I think it will be an infusion of things to do for people and it will take the stress off of me in having to organize everyone and send out PMs, asking people if they want to mix it up with so and so. That is on you guys, from now on.
So in summation, it goes a little something like this. TWD is changing. Everyone needs to take more responsibility for their own characters. New titles. New booking style. New approach. Hopefully, a New Website soon. With any luck, New Members.
Question, thoughts, opinions, comments, suggestions, yea buts, all appreciated in this thread. I just want to make this place more interesting for everyone, myself included.
