Kurt Stone.
Who??
Kurt...Stone.
I’m name dropping; does it ring a bell yet?
Ah, yes. When we strain our minds, maybe watch some old tapes, we recall him as the guy who wandered into the middle of a TWD Pay-Per-View Main Event. You remember? The guy who made himself a factor in a match for the World Heavyweight Championship?
We’re all now asking: “What was the point?” Was his aim to make a one time impact, one that pissed off both Champion and Challenger, just because he could, or to prove that TWD’s Security Staff are virtually useless, incapable of doing their jobs?
Your guess is as good as the rest.
The voices of TWD gushed all over the intruder, alluding to some grandiose reputation as a “Somebody”; someone who competed in the FWF...and whatever other promotion you can think of. Was that to impress us?
CALIBER, the Wrestling Domain’s next big thing, wasn’t impressed. Not in the least bit. FWF? The Fans Wrestling Federation? Please. Does Kurt Stone have a reputation I should take note of? I don’t think so.
If the man cared an ounce about how he would be perceived by his peers today, he would’ve at least appeared ONCE to explain his motives for botching an otherwise average World Title Defense. He also would have spoken a word or two about his opponent on Showdown coming up in Lawton...
There’s only one conclusion to draw at this point; Kurt Stone isn’t worth my time, nor anybody else’s for that matter.
(We now fade into what appears to be something of a promotional commercial for the Wrestling Domain's "Showdown" broadcast. CALIBER is sitting down in a chair that's positoned within an empty wrestling ring. A smirk is on his face as he speaks up. In the background, we hear "Soulcrusher" by Operator playing aloud. In the corner of our screen is the TWD logo and the time for the Showdown broadcast.)
CALIBER: Can you sense the anticipation? In under twenty-four hours now...in a small setting, yours truly is about to make a big impact. And while I do plan on spending some quality time with the fans, getting to know them a little bit better through my unmatched ability to judge character, it’s in the ring that I plan to make my most bold, and loudest statements. While my opponent clearly won’t offer much in the way of competition, I still plan to produce the wildest of exhibitions. And at the end of the night, as people recall the events of the evening, what they’ll be talking most about is the abilities of CALIBER; the aerial artistry and unpredictable mat mechanics.
(Our camera angle goes into a slow aerial spin as CALIBER continues.)
CALIBER: I’ll admit though, that I’m most excited at the prospect of introducing myself to the Wrestling Domain; the boys, the crew, those who make up this wrestling landscape. It’s my intention to reset the bar, the standard of competition, here in this promotion. Up until this point who do the people have to revere? The Wizard of Ahhs? Brent Kersh? Eno Redrum? Dragzilla? Pick any name from this line-up of wrestlers in TWD, and I can bring out the best in them. I...can give them the best matches of their careers, on any given night. And whether or not the fans agree or not, whether they love me or they hate me, they’ll still have no choice but to respect me. They, along with the rest of TWD, will have no choice but to face the facts.
(The angle goes level as CALIBER stands up and we zoom in on his face and upper-torso; clad in a black "Better Than You" t-shirt.)
CALIBER: What’s left to be said? The obvious future of TWD is now only a matter of time. Sit back, tune into Showdown, and let me stain into your brains the phrase you’ll never forget, in connection with your new, resident five-star performer...I’m simply “100% PURE Ability!”
