I agree that Kobe needs to quit being compared to Jordan. Jordan is the greatest to ever play the game, and Kobe is not even the best person playing right now that should be compare to Jordan.
Take Kobe off the Lakers and they may not be as good, but they wouldn't be terrible. If you take Lebron off of the Cavs, they are terrible.
I am not comparing Lebron and Jordan, because I don't believe that anyone should be compared to Jordan. But if you instist then Lebron is going to be the next closest basketball star to Jordan.

I hate the fact that everyone compares everyone to Jordan now days..
I hate the fact that everyone wants to play like Jordan now days...
If I was playing pro ball I want to play like the Big O... i want to average a triple double the entire year... If I had the height I want to play like Wilt and win like Bill, and have a sky hook like Lou/or Kareem..
In all Kobe is wrong for walking off the court, true enough, but let's face it... his team mate are incompatent when it comes to winning, just like I am with my grammar.
Kevin G has all that ability and you are telling me he is now... now making it to this moment? He should have had a career of 25pts 17-19rebs a season, for a fucking career. He will tell you he did it cause he was not selfish... I think any time you pass the ball to a team mate so people will not say you are selfish, makes you a bit selfish. I don't give a damn if you have 4 or 5 assist ot back up your 21pts 13reb a game. what the fuck? Are you a 6'7 Small forward? Or are you a 6'11 power foward.
Kobe may be who he is, I respect him cause he never apologized, only to his wife and kids, and he never changed... Kobe has dones it... his way! Besides you can sit here and call him this, call him that, but let's face it.. until you are welcomed into his home, had a beer or two with him, hung out with him, you know nothing. Just like you might think of me as an asshole, an opinonated jerk, or just a unlikable guy... you know nothing. You only know what you have read, and snipits and inserts of interviews.

First off, I'm a Sonics fan. Let the hazing begin.
Kobe Bryant is an excellent volume shooter (which inherently means he's a decent scorer) and a so-so defender. He is not a team player.
That being said, he is probably in the top 5 "Best Active Players" simply because of his stats.
Lebron is a better player. Would Bryant have kicked out to Delonte West for the game winning shot (well, in Kobe's case it would've been Derrick Fisher)? Nope. He'd've put it on himself. And probably lost.
Tim Duncan is the best active player, in my opinion. His teammates are pieces to a puzzle only, with the exception of maybe Tony Parker. Duncan anchors the closest thing to a dynasty in basketball since Jordan's Bulls in the nineties.
I hate the comparisons to Jordan also, but Tim Duncan-In terms of pure winning and doing it as the leader of a team-is the closest thing.
For the record, Chris Paul is the "shoulda, woulda" MVP in my book also. His team was out in front of the rediculous west until Gasol got traded and even then they still finished, what, second?
Paul makes David West better. He made Tyson Chandler better. He revived Peja. He took a team that can't sell out an arena because of local economy and put them on the map.
Kobe makes Lamar Odom worse. Kobe has zero effect on Pau Gasol. Kobe makes Phil Jackson worse.
Kobe systematically drives all talent from his presence, because he wants to be King Shit on "His" team. He then cries about how the Lakers do nothing to help him. He is holding the Lakers hostage and they should've just traded him this offseason.
They are the beneficiaries of incredible luck and timing, as Phoenix is the best team in the division but felt they needed Shaq and screwed off the team chemestry.
Not to mention that Kobe was pretty much gift wrapped the MVP by the same league that fixed the '02 playoff series between the Lakers and Kings. The league knows Chris Paul has 10 more years to win an MVP but Kobe has like 3 and this year he won a tough west thanks to key acqusitions.
He's the choice of crooks and a scumbag.
But a good basketball player. Better than me at least.
But not better than Kevin Durant (give it time)

Okay, let's change this topic around now and do something different.
List your Top 10 Current Players (Players that are currently in the league). You can have 2 PGs, 2 SG, 2SF, 2PF and 2C.
Then list your Top 10 Retired Players. Same breakdown as above.
Finally, list your Top 10 Players of all time. Same breakdown as above.

Oh yea LeBron SG = Kobe "I don't need Shaq" Braynt, and...Allen Iverson PG = Chris Paul and Williams from Utah.

Top 10 active:
10. Vince Carter 9. Tracy McGrady 8. Dirk Nowitzki 7. Jason Kidd 6. Dwayne Wade 5. Kobe Bryant 4. Steve Nash 3. Chris Paul 2. Tim Duncan 1. Lebron James
Top Ten Retired:
10. Pete Marovich 9. George Gervin 8. Julius Erving 7. Kareem Abdul Jabaar 6. Wilt Chamberlain 5. Larry Bird 4. Oscar Robertson 3. Magic Johnson 2. Michael Jordan 1. Bill Russell (guy has more championships than fingers, player/coach, made the game change because of his presence)
Top 10 ever:
10. Julius Erving 9. Kareem Abdul Jabar 8. Wilt Chamberlain 7. Larry Bird 6. Tim Duncan 5. Oscar Robertson 4. Magic Johnson 3. Lebron James 2. Michael Jordan 1. Bill Russell
Lebron and Duncan are the only ones to make the cut in to overall based on the fact that if you put them on equal footing (i.e. shotclock era v. no, salary cap v. no, etc.) I think they would still dominate. Any time frame their games are still just as good.
And for the record, Kingpin is a bastard. Kobe helping you win the basketball league was the only championship he'll ever see. HA!

For the record, we all know Kingoin is a bastard. Anyone who has one of his henchmen (that would be Eno) piss on Marcus T's mother after Kingpin sets fire to their house is just a low down dirty rotten scoundrel. Need I say more or shall I go into another story about Marcus and his inability to drink with an old man such as myself? Wow, I just changed the subject.

This is the list I would go with if I were starting a team today. The thing is, it is just personal preference as there are several players you could put in these teams depending on how you wanted to go with your team.
PG Chris Paul Pg Darron Williams
SG Kobe Bryant SG LeBron James
SF Carmelo Anthony SF Dirk Nowizski
PF Elton Brand PF Tim Duncan
C Dwight Howard C Yao Ming
Here is my Top 10 Retired Players List. This one was even harder because of all the great names out there. Again, I went with personal preference.
PG Magic Johnson PG Oscar Robinson
SG Michael Jordan SG George Gervin
SF Julius "Dr. J" Irving SF Larry Bird
PF Kevin McHale PF Dennis Rodman
C Bill Russell C Wilt Chamberlain
And Finally my Top 1o of All-Time. Once again, personal preference and there are so manynames left off of these lists that it is a shame they all can't be on here. Maybe I will do a Top 50 one day, but even still that will cut a few people off as well.
PG Magic Johnson PG Oscar Robinson
SG Micheal Jordan SG Kobe Bryant (dopn't like him, but give him credit)
SF Julius "Dr. J" Irving SF Larry Bird
PF Tim Duncan PF Dennis Rodman (the guy was just a damn rebound machine)
C Bill Russell C Wilt Chamberlain

It's funny how you dropped The Big O down to Pg to stick Kobe in... Even if he could play pg, sg, and sf.
Am I the only one giving Barkley any love?
Kobe over Gervin? Mr. Finger Roll himself? The Ice Man?
And what about jerry west? he is the NBA icon for pete sakes.. speaking of pete, what about Pistol Pete?

All the basketball talk is like clicking sounds to me. Does anyone talk wrestling anymore or has the business really gotten that bad? Yes, I know...it has. We live in the Cena Era. Bland, Boring, and BS.

Like I said Marcus, the list could have gone either way and there are a bunch of players you could take out and put in. It is hard when you narrow it down to just 10 players, but I went with who I liked best.
Since Rob wants wrestling talk, shall we do a Top 10 Wrestlers of All-Time List now?
